Why do I do it?
My fight in the hospital to be the authority of my birth felt similar to my fight as a Social Justice Activist, But should making decisions regarding our reproductive rights feel like a protest? It shouldnβt. I thought about all the other birthing people β like you β who could face similar issues, struggling for autonomy as I did during pregnancy and birth. I wanted to shut down streets for us. I am here with two main goals:
1. Support you in connecting with your heart, passion, and intentions so you can have an autonomous birth that centers you as the authority.
2. Help you avoid a traumatic birth experience through education, tangible skills, and advocacy.
Your birth should rank as one of the best days of your life. My mission is to ensure you have the birth you deserve and desire. In the end, I want you to say some variation of, βYo! I really did that!β and have PEACE knowing that you orchestrated your birth, trusted your intuition, stood your ground, only said yes when it felt right, and did exactly what you knew was best for you and your baby.
Alright, where do I start?
Good news! The first step is the most difficult, and youβve already done it. You recognize that birth is an event that needs active preparation and investment.

What about doulas and birthworkers?
Birth Theory serves doulas and birthworkers through the Reparative Birthwork Community.
The Reparative Birthwork Community aims to provide a supportive environment where doulas and birthworkers of all identities and experiences can engage in deep inner work to become culturally aware, inclusive, and liberated in their thinking so they can be better reproductive justice advocates and embody the principles of collective liberation, healing, justice, and repair, both personally and professionally.
